Where do you get a good torx tool from?
The one I used stripped the thread on the top of the screw. Not sure what to do, I think it must have been too small.

Wow, what a great write up. I had damaged my LCD screen and stumbled on this site. I ordered a replacement screen from china on ebay. Followed your write up and my replacement LCD works perfect. The only problem I had was that the Lens did not have enough glue to hold in back in place. I used a small piece of scotch tape to hold it in the housing and applied about 4 small drops of crazy glue and installed the cover with the lens in the correct position and the crazy glue held it firmly in place.

Ryan, there are different versions of RAZR V3 (V3, V3i, V3C, etc), do they use same kind of LCD screen ? I see some LCD screens are being sold from China and Hong Kong, is it OK to buy these ?

Great directions, thanks! The only thing I would add is an easier way to get the lens back on. Put it in the hole of the faceplate and put a couple pieces of tape (on the outside) to hold it in place. Then when you put the cover back on, it is already lined up.

@jackl: My suggestion would be to pop the cover and check the ribbon cable connections. On picture #7 (outer lense removed), you'll see a connection right next to the external LCD, and I'd guess this connection didn't seat completely. Also remember to lock the ribbons in by pushing the brown levers back into the connector socket (the reverse of what you did to release the ribbon cables when disassembling). Please do forgive me, it has been a while since I disassembled that RAZR. Good luck!

@mrjim: Thanks for the kudos, and great tip!

THANK YOU! I just repaired my phone using your instructions, and they were extremely helpful. I would also suggest that people use canned air to blow dust off the large lens before sealing the unit back up.... also a thin plastic card, like an shopper's club card or similar can be used if you don't have a popsicle stick handy. And just to be clear, you only need a T6 size tool....

You are truly a god among men. I would never have had the courage to pry off that outer LCD "lense" without you egging me on. Thanks for the great writeup!
